Director of Legal Affairs (Vice Chair)

My wife, Johanna, and I have been married for 42 years and have 5 grown children and 5 awesome grandchildren. We have both lived in the Coulee Region all of our lives. After spending  2 1/2 years on active duty  with the US Navy stationed on the USS Lexington I went to work shortly after the Navy  with UPS. Spending 32 year as a Service Provider and then left at 53 years old to purse a new venture. I bought a 12-unit apartment building and became a Real Estate Broker. On advice from a friend was "Join the Wisconsin Apartment Association, they will give you the advice and information you need to run your rental business." My desire is always to "do it the right way" in whatever I do, so I joined! WAA was just what I needed. I also took a Property Management course. Johanna and then became managers of about 70 rental units and 7 commercial buildings. When I was asked to be a board delegate for the local La Crosse affiliate of WAA, I began to take more of an interest in the workings of WAA. When WAA began reorganization of its structure and Chis Mokler became President, I was asked to become the Director of Legal Affairs. With caution, I accepted and the caution is only because I want to do things right. I was a bit nervous about letting people down. I am so impressed with all our Board members and how hard they work to Make WAA successful.  I am here to help locals and stay informed on issues that affect each local, which can then affect locals across the state. Help me by giving me one local contact that I can work with to stay informed .

Jeremie Wienke (Janesville)
JARPA

MunicipalAffairs@WAAonline.org

Director of Municipal Affairs

For the past 16 years, Jeremie and his family have lived in "some sort of housing" while working a full time job.  Meanwhile, his wife, Jessica, homeschooled their 3 children.  After looking at potential properties for about 3 years, they bought their first single family rental in 2011.  Since that time, Jeremie's rental portfolio has grown to almost 40 units.  Thanks to the income generated by the properties he was able to leave his "day job" behind in 2018! Now, he is able to focus solely on managing and maintaining the properties. Jeremie has been a member of his local apartment association (Janesville Area Rental Property Association, JARPA) since 2016. He says, "I appreciate the helpful eduction, and I really enjoy networking with like-minded individuals.  I believe in the old quote 'It's easier to learn from the mistakes or experiences of others than to repeat that mistake with your own time, money, and agony.' Contact Jeremie if you'd like to start building positive relations in your local municipality.

After graduating from UW-Oshkosh, Chris joined his father full time and bought out several other landlords in the Oshkosh area. Chris has been involved with both the Winnebago Apartment Association and the Wisconsin Apartment Association for many years. In 2014 he authored and presented a "Re-Boot" plan for WAA, which was adopted, and he continues to work hard to see that plan into action.
